I am a Southern African – born and bred – educated in Zimbabwe, Kenya and the United Kingdom with brief stints in Asia. My career in commerce has straddled both Africa and the United Kingdom in equal measure. My range of undesirable habits are constantly reined in by my Christian values and a sensible wife.
African Aspects is a platform where some of my more random views of the world are expressed. Feel free to disagree or protest should you find that your views differ from mine. Equally affirm me where we agree. African Aspects is a corner of the web where the world is viewed through restless African eyes.

Mgcini T – ah you know it’s good to have you stop by. You’ve always been one to come up with great contributions / comments. I look forward to hearing from you in the future. I had to laugh out loud at the idea of ticks falling off voluntarily – it could be due to the colder climate. Stay well!

Beki – great hearing from you and thanks a lot for the compliment (I’ll treat it as such). Make no mistake – it’s people like you who make the blog what it is. Short of that it would be a very lonely endeavour. You took the words right outta my mouth – I’m actually in the middle of a post on that right now! Check in a little later and I’ll have finished cobbling it together. Always great having you stop by!

I like the blog. Keep it up.
When I was recently living in Southern Africa, I was particulalry interested, and impressed with the telcoms (mobile phone) sectors across the continent. From what i could see the business model, operations, services and products they offered were innovative and not simply based on adopting things from other countries. Eg: per second billing, container shipped networks, phone card street vendors, credit transfers, etc. To me, this was exciting to see and it was not the only innovative business sector around. I’d like to see you keep picking up on uniquely african business models in your blog.
take care my friend.
cheers

Marlon – great hearing from you my friend! Thanks for stopping by and for the kind words.
You are totally right – the unique requirements (and constraints) of Africa are leading to interesting ways of doing things across all spheres of commerce. I have noted your suggestion to throw a spotlight on that side of developments in Africa. Do stop by again as this blog is only as good as the contributions of wiser sages like you.
Hope you’re well!
