África, Pecado de Europa

África, Pecado de Europa is a book written in Spanish, translated to mean Africa, Sin of Europe in English. It is the work of Luís de Sebastián Carazo, Emeritus Professor of the Department of Economics at the ESADE Business School. In the video clip below he takes a few minutes to talk about what the book entails.  I get the feeling this may not be the last time I hear about his assertions.  I also doubt the good professor has won any popularity contests in Europe lately…

  • hmmm…help us africans become ‘civilised’? is it a language barrier that breeds such statements? like a spanish to english lost in translation moment? i would be interested to know what things he suggests europe should do – hopefully not writing big cheques that come with extortionate interest rates, but fair trade…i wonder what the good professor has to say about the spanish occupation of south america and the caribbean (incl their african slaves descendants)…

    good blog you have here.

  • Sci-culturist – I know what you mean – I’m also itching to know what “solutions” are put forward in the book. Add to your list the Philippines as well – a nation traumatised by multiple occupations at the hands of Spain, Japan, and the US. It’s a hard knock life.

Thanks for your contribution and appreciate you stopping by.
